Mitch graduated from the University of Oregon with a B.A. in
Architecture. To him, artistic design is an important consideration,
but it must be compatible with the structure’s integrity and
sustainability.
Construction has been part of Mitch’s professional life since he was
14. He has been a business owner since 1979 and a licensed contractor
since 2000. Gaian Design was launched in 1996.
“Design capabilities are grounded in the practical world of
construction,” Mitch says. “I have a wealth of experience in
residential, commercial and remodeling.”
Increasingly, clients ask him about adding “green” to their design.
Here are a couple of things to think about:
• Gaian Design Works can help you develop the project in alliance with
natural systems. The right design allows for light and warmth in
cooler months as well as natural cooling in warmer months.
• Use of certain materials will reflect your care for sustainability.
That can be accomplished in a number of ways: from engineered framing
materials and use of natural woods to the selection of flooring,
carpets and paint.
“Choice of materials can affect indoor air quality as well as the
burden on our natural resources,” Mitch adds.
So, whether you’re planning on new construction, an “infill” project
in an established neighborhood, a professional studio, an office
building or an addition to an existing structure, Mitch can make that
process enjoyable, as well as affordable.
